The weekly group rides are a great way to get together with friends and to meet new friends. The Monday, all ladies, ride and the Tuesday, for everyone ride, are both no drop rides and help riders of all abilities improve riding skills and knowledge or just for friendship and the love of riding a bicycle. ” – Joyce

Here at Breakaway, we like to ride!  Group rides are a great way to stay motivated, be inspired, get in shape, train for an upcoming event, meet new friends, and become a better rider. We hope you will join us!

This year we are incorporating all ride levels into a single night group ride.

GENERAL INFORMATION for all BBS Rides:

  • All BBS weekly rides are FREE. Join us for the fun, then bring a friend and spread the word.
  • All rides leave from Breakaway and are co-ed and “no drop” unless otherwise noted.
  • Riders need to arrive 15-30 minutes before scheduled start time for a little socialization and to make sure your bike is ready to go. We will roll out at the designated start time.
  • Bring your own bike in good working condition, helmet (required), water and nutrition, and a means to be self-sufficient (cell phone or flat changing tools.)
  • We begin each season with a lower mileage and slower pace and then increase our mileage and pace as we get stronger throughout the riding season.
  • We ride on the Nickel Plate Trail, on country roads, flats, hills, and everything in between.
  • In the event of inclement weather, call ahead to verify the ride is still a go. We will not ride in steady rain, thunderstorms/lightning or high winds.
  • Our ride leaders are here to help YOU achieve your riding goals, whether it’s a casual ride to get moving, a social ride to meet new friends, or training with a purpose. We are here for YOU!
MONDAY: Ladies Only Ride 6:00 p.m. (click for more information)
Led by ladies this is a “no drop” ride to encourage more women to ride. If you have never ridden in a group, this is a great place to start and to learn valuable group riding skills. It also gives you an opportunity to meet other female riders of similar ability.   Ride pace and length varies and is determined based on participants. Suitable for road and hybrid bikes.
WEDNESDAY: All Levels Ride 6:00 p.m. (click for more information)
This is a “no-drop”, co-ed ride with multiple paces and distances available. We will all leave together with each person riding at a pace and distance that is comfortable for them. We will have 2 to 3 groups, depending on abilities, with a group leader pacing at these averages – Group A – 15+ mph average, Group B – 12+ mph average, Group C – below 12 mph average. Each group will regroup as necessary to ensure no one is left behind. *This is a new format and we will adjust as necessary – your feedback is welcome*  Suitable for road, hybrid, and comfort bikes.
FRIDAY: Ride & Feast - Meet and Greet @ 6:00 p.m. and Ride @ 6:30 p.m. (click for more information)
This is a ride for everyone with one goal in mind: fun! It is on pre-determined Fridays throughout the summer. Group riding experience is helpful but not necessary. You need to be comfortable riding in a group, on the road, and with terrain changes. The distance will be determined in advance (with longer and shorter distances available), and the pace will depend on the group. No one will be left behind. Our focus is meeting new friends, eating good food, and having a great time!

If you are interested in a Saturday ride, contact us. There is a group that usually meets at 8:00 a.m. and leaves from BBS that would welcome new riders. Ideal for road bikes.
